She was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana before being forced by Hurricane Katrina to move to Texas in 2005.
She sang Aretha Franklin’s hit “Chain of Fools” during The X Factor auditions.
Known for her association with the girl group Fifth Harmony, who went on to place third on the U.S. version of the reality TV competition The X Factor during its second season. She and the rest of the members parted ways in 2018 to pursue solo careers. Subsequently, she signed a modeling contract with Wilhelmina.
She was a award-winning dancer and gymnast before pursuing a singing career, she recorded her first single when she was only 13.
She appeared on the HBO original series Treme in a small role. She became a finalist in season 24 of Dancing with the Stars.
